Kwan tried to kill his mum’s partner over money. He injected him with a fake Covid jab. Kwan planned this for months, even writing fake NHS letters. He was caught and sentenced to over 31 years in prison.
Harris, a theatre nurse, stabbed a shop owner, Gary Lewis, with a needle. This attack was completely unprovoked. He injected Lewis with a drug that can stop breathing. Thankfully, Lewis survived thanks to medical help.
Kwan’s pension could have been worth around £1 million by retirement. Harris’s pension details are unclear, but he likely earned over £40,000 a year.
Both cases have shocked the community. The Health Secretary is considering changes to pension rules for convicted NHS members. This could mean losing benefits for serious crimes committed before retirement.
