The schools affected are Forest Hill High and Jim Hill High. Not ideal, right? But it gets better. Kids from Wilkins and Shirley Elementary are also switching things up. They’ll be going to different spots for in-person classes while the heat gets fixed.
Wilkins Elementary students will head over to New Horizon Church on Bobby Rush Boulevard. Meanwhile, Shirley Elementary kids will be at Jackson State University.
JPS is making sure buses are running as usual, so students can get to these new locations. Plus, breakfast and lunch will still be served, thanks to the JPS Child Nutrition team.
Sherwin Johnson, the spokesperson for JPS, expressed gratitude to their partners for helping out during this heating mess. They’re working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible.
