Two held for looting jewellery, cash from senior citizen’s home in Vile Parle

Mumbai: So, there was this pretty shocking incident in Vile Parle where two people were arrested for robbing an elderly woman. They tied her up and made off with a ton of cash and jewelry.

The police said it all went down earlier this week. The suspects, a man and a woman, allegedly threatened the 80-year-old with a knife. They took her jewelry worth about Rs 6.8 lakh and around Rs 1.5 lakh in cash. Can you believe that?

The Crime Branch got involved and quickly tracked down the suspects. They found the woman, Shweta, at a lodge in Versova and the man, Babu, in Thane. Unfortunately, they still haven’t recovered the stolen items.

The whole thing happened on a Sunday afternoon when the woman was home with her maid. The thieves rang the doorbell, and when she opened the door, they barged in and locked it behind them. They tied both women up with tape and stole everything they could find.

It was only when her son came home a couple of hours later that he discovered what had happened. He found his mom and the maid tied up and immediately called the police. What a terrifying experience for them!
