It all went down last January when Kieren was waiting for a bus after a match against Dunfermline Athletic. A gang of thugs jumped him, and it was all caught on video. You could see him curled up, trying to protect himself while they kicked and punched him. It’s just heartbreaking.
In court, the sheriff read Kieren’s victim impact statement, and it was really tough to hear. He talked about how he still has nightmares and panic attacks. He even said he doesn’t think he’ll ever feel like the carefree kid he was before this happened.
The judge told King and Beautyman they should be ashamed of themselves. Luckily for them, their young ages kept them out of jail. King got 240 hours of community service, while Beautyman has to wear an electronic tag and stick to a curfew. They also can’t go to any football games for three years.
Kieren’s ordeal started after Raith won the match, and he was just waiting for a bus home. But then, a mob of rival fans attacked him, shouting horrible things and even saying they wanted to kill him. It’s just sickening.
The video of the attack went viral, and it made everyone really angry. Both football clubs condemned the violence and promised to help find the attackers. Kieren was taken to the hospital but has been left traumatized.
It’s just a sad situation all around, and it’s a reminder of how important it is to stand up against violence in sports.
