Craster: A popular Northumberland pub is getting ready for a busy Valentine’s Day. The Jolly Fisherman has been named one of the UK’s most romantic restaurants.

As February 14 approaches, many are looking for the perfect date night spot. If you want something different, consider The Jolly Fisherman. It’s now in the top 100 romantic restaurants in the UK.

This list comes from OpenTable, just in time for Valentine’s Day 2025. The Jolly Fisherman joins two Newcastle restaurants and The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh.

The pub offers stunning sea views, delicious food, and great ales. The owners describe it as a tastefully refurbished pub with character and tradition.

They’ve kept the charm of the historic pub with stone floors and low ceilings. In winter, you can enjoy a cozy fire, and in summer, the beer garden offers spectacular views.

John Torode, a Masterchef judge, loves The Jolly Fisherman. He visited again in early 2023, 20 years after his first visit for their famous crab sandwiches.

The pub shared his visit on Facebook, highlighting the local seafood. They feel proud to showcase Northumberland’s fresh produce.

John’s visit wasn’t the only time the pub attracted TV stars. The Antiques Roadshow team stopped by in 2018 during a break in filming.
