Trump Criticizes UK’s North Sea Energy Policy as a Major Error
Trump’s remarks come as the UK faces backlash over its energy taxation policies

London: So, Trump just took a swing at the UK’s energy policy on social media. He’s not happy about the windfall tax on oil and gas producers. He called it a “very big mistake” and urged the UK to open up the North Sea. He even said to ditch the windmills!
His comments come right after the UK government decided to hike the windfall tax to 38%. That means oil and gas companies are now facing a hefty 78% tax rate. Ouch! This tax was introduced after Russia invaded Ukraine, which sent oil prices soaring.
Interestingly, the Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, promised to stop issuing new licenses for North Sea oil and gas exploration. That’s a big contrast to Trump’s plans to ramp up domestic oil production in the US.
And it doesn’t stop there. Elon Musk has also been taking shots at Starmer lately. He’s been questioning Starmer’s past as a prosecutor and even called for new elections in the UK. Seems like there’s a lot of drama going on across the pond!
