Trudeau Chairs Canada-U.S. Relations Meeting Amid Resignation Calls

OTTAWA: So, Justin Trudeau is stepping up to chair a cabinet meeting about Canada-U.S. relations today. This comes at a time when folks are really pushing for him to resign.
His schedule got a little shake-up, and now he’ll be joining the meeting virtually. They didn’t say exactly when, though.
It’s been a wild week for the Liberals. It all kicked off with Chrystia Freeland resigning from her cabinet position just before she was supposed to present the fall economic statement.
Freeland and the new Finance Minister, Dominic LeBlanc, usually chat with the media after these meetings, so we’ll see if that happens this time.
This committee was put together again after Trump got re-elected, and they’ve been focusing a lot on border security. Remember, Trump had threatened to slap 25% tariffs on Canadian goods.
Since Freeland’s exit, a bunch of Liberal MPs have been calling for Trudeau to step down. The NDP and other opposition parties are saying they’ve lost confidence in the minority Liberal government.
