Newton Heath, Karen Youdell, Dean Johnstone, Murder, Trial

Newton Heath: A trial date has been set after a mum-of-four tragically died following an attack. It’s such a sad story.

Officers looked into the attack on Karen Youdell that happened on Rose Bank Road back in July 2023. Sadly, she passed away on May 8, 2024, after the incident.

Dean Johnstone, who’s 43, was initially charged with attempted murder and assault. Now, he’s facing a murder charge. He hasn’t entered a plea yet.

In court today, three others were also there regarding the case. Lisa Johnstone, 43, and Yvonne Johnstone, 45, along with Glenn Nelson, 39, all pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice.

They’ve set a trial date for April 28 this year. Today’s hearing was mostly about administrative stuff.

For now, Lisa, Yvonne, and Glenn are out on bail until the trial. Dean Johnstone will be back in court on January 22.
