Wrexham: It’s a sad day for Welsh politics. Peter Rogers, who served as an Assembly Member, has passed away at 85. He was a Conservative AM from 1999 to 2003, focusing on agriculture.
After losing his seat, he tried running as an independent in 2005 but came in third. He didn’t give up, though. He ran again in 2007 and 2010 but faced tough competition.
Peter was born in Wrexham and had quite the background. He was a rugby player for Cardiff and Bridgend before diving into farming and agrochemicals. He even owned a farm in Anglesey and was active in the local Conservative Association.
Darren Millar, the leader of the Welsh Conservatives, expressed his sadness over Peter’s passing. He highlighted Peter’s dedication to rural Wales and his support for farming communities. It’s clear he made a significant impact and will be missed by many.
