Middlesbrough: Geraldine Purvis, a former councillor, has passed away at 82. She served the Brambles & Thorntree ward from 2011 to 2023.
During her time, she was active on various committees and community boards. Geraldine worked with groups like the Thorntree Community Hub and the Tees Valley Arts Board.
She served alongside her husband, Peter, until his death in 2018. Together, they raised four sons.
Former Mayor Dave Budd praised her caring nature and dedication to the community. He noted her strong advocacy for local issues.
MP Andy McDonald also honored her commitment to East Middlesbrough. He described her as hardworking and well-respected.
Geraldine’s funeral will be held at St Bede’s Chapel, Teesside Crematorium, on Wednesday, February 26, at 11:00 am.
