Holbeach: A 16-year-old boy is on trial for allegedly trying to kill another teen. This incident happened near a primary school, which is pretty shocking.
During the trial at Lincoln Crown Court, the jury heard that the accused made a Facetime call to a girl. In that call, the victim was seen lying unconscious, likely from drinking too much.
It gets crazier. The defendant reportedly threatened to slit the other boy’s throat and told the girl that the victim’s future was in her hands. Then, she got a message saying, “it’s on you.” Talk about pressure!
When the police arrived, they heard a strange noise and found the victim lying next to a hedge. They were so worried about him that they put him in the recovery position.
He was rushed to the Queen’s Medical Centre and ended up in an induced coma. The prosecution claims this was an attempted murder, as the victim had serious wounds.
The accused, who can’t be named due to his age, denies the attempted murder charge but has admitted to a lesser charge of unlawful wounding. So, he does admit he hurt the other boy.
The judge told the jury that their job is to decide if the defendant is guilty or not. They’ll also hear from witnesses who say the boy was acting really strangely that night.
The trial is expected to last about five days, so we’ll see how it unfolds.
