Pembrokeshire: So, it looks like there’s going to be some rail disruption in and out of Pembrokeshire over the next few weeks. Network Rail is doing some engineering work, and it’s going to affect a bunch of services.
They’re working on the lines between Swansea, Carmarthen, Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest, and Fishguard Harbour. While that’s happening, buses will step in to replace the trains.
The Pembrokeshire Community Hub shared on Facebook that this work is all about upgrading old signalling equipment. The goal is to make journeys in and out of west Wales more reliable.
They’ll be installing new telecoms and modern signalling systems, which sounds pretty high-tech. Most of this work will happen at night, so it shouldn’t mess up too many daytime plans.
But, there will be some changes to evening and morning services, and there will be longer closures at times to get everything done.
So, if you’re wondering which services will be affected, here’s a quick rundown:
🚆 Swansea-Carmarthen – Buses on January 12, January 19, and February 15-16.
🚆 Fishguard Harbour-Carmarthen – Buses from January 27 to January 31.
🚆 Fishguard Harbour – Haverfordwest – Buses on January 25, February 1, and February 3-8.
🚆 Milford Haven-Carmarthen – Buses from January 27 to January 30, until early afternoon.
🚆 Pembroke Dock-Carmarthen – Buses from February 1 to February 14.
Transport for Wales is advising everyone to check their travel plans during this time. You can find the latest info on their Journey Check page.
