Richard Osman: Your Choice in The Traitors Reveals More About You
A new poll suggests your political leanings may influence your choice in The Traitors

London: BBC’s The Traitors is back, and it’s full of twists and turns. Have you ever wondered if you’d be a faithful or a traitor? It’s a fun thought, right?
Well, it turns out your choice might say a lot about your political views. A recent poll by More in Common found that Conservative voters lean towards wanting to be traitors, while Labour supporters prefer to be faithful.
The numbers are interesting. If you’d choose to be a faithful, Labour would have a 14-point lead. On the flip side, those who’d rather be traitors would give the Tories a 12-point edge. Reform and Lib Dems also have their share of wannabe traitors and faithfuls.
This was all discussed on Richard Osman and Marina Hyde’s podcast, ‘The Rest is Entertainment’. Osman really dug into what the poll reveals about us.
He compared it to sports, saying every series of The Traitors is unique, but there’s always something happening. The poll split viewers into those who’d want to be traitors and those who’d prefer to be faithful.
Osman pointed out that if only faithfuls could vote, Labour would win big. But if only traitors could vote, the Tories would take the lead. That’s a massive swing!
Ed Hodgson from More in Common UK wrote about the findings, suggesting that those who want to be traitors have a higher sense of threat. This means they’re more aware of dangers around them, like crime.
Hodgson explained that these traitor-wannabes respond better to messages about control, whether it’s about borders or safety. They want to feel in charge, which is why they might choose the traitor role.
We’ll have to wait and see if the traitors can really control the game as they think they can!
The Traitors continues tonight, Thursday, January 16, at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer. The Traitors: Uncloaked will be on BBC Two at 10pm.
