Train Passengers Warned of Key Closure This Weekend
Passengers traveling between Oxfordshire and Birmingham face disruptions due to essential maintenance work this Sunday

Oxfordshire: So, here’s the scoop. Train passengers heading to Birmingham this Sunday are in for a bit of a hassle. There’s a key closure happening on the route between Bicester North/Banbury and Birmingham Moor Street, plus between Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. They’re shutting it down for some much-needed maintenance and improvement work.
Network Rail is on it, working hard to improve drainage, trim back some overgrown plants, and check out the tunnels and tracks. This means that services from Chiltern Railways, West Midlands Railway, and CrossCountry will be affected. They’ll even have bus replacements running to help out.
Neil Gaskin from Network Rail mentioned that they’re really sorry for the disruption. He gets that there’s never a good time for closures, but they’ve planned this carefully to keep things as smooth as possible for everyone in the long run.
He also advised folks to plan ahead and check for the latest travel info before heading out. Michael Stewart from Chiltern Railways added that these engineering works are super important for making sure journeys are more reliable in the future. Just a heads up, if you’re traveling through those areas on Sunday, expect longer trips and a bus replacement.
So, if you’re planning to travel, make sure to check your journey ahead of time. Thanks for your patience while they get this work done!
