Anglesey: There’s a new plan on the table to set up a seasonal caravan site. This idea is part of a strategy to help a local coal and gas business diversify. The proposal is currently with the planners at Anglesey County Council.
The site, located at Bryn Hyfryd Farm, would welcome caravans and camper vans from March to October. It’s a 70-acre stretch of land that’s not being fully used right now, right next to the Bryn Hyfryd coal depot.
According to the plans, the land will go back to grazing after the caravan season ends. They’re also looking to create a new access road from a minor lane that connects Valley and Llanfairyneubwll. Plus, there will be a shower block and a small office with some outdoor lighting.
The council’s documents mention that this project aims to use land near the coal and gas business for a high-quality caravan site. The goal is to shift away from fossil fuels and move into a more sustainable market, which is pretty cool.
They believe this will help protect jobs and keep the business thriving while also being responsible about the environment. The site is right on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so they’re making sure it won’t spoil the views or the character of the area.
They’re confident that the caravans won’t be too visible from the A55 and that the design will blend in nicely with the landscape. They even plan to add some new hedges and wetland areas to enhance the natural beauty.
So, it looks like Anglesey might be getting a new spot for holidaymakers, which could be a win-win for the local economy and the environment!
