Navi Mumbai: So, there’s this wild story about the Torres Company. They’ve managed to swindle 193 people out of a whopping ₹4.5 crore! The police are still digging into it, and it looks like more folks might come forward.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amit Kale, mentioned that the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has already seized a bunch of stuff from the company’s office, like laptops and phones. They’re really getting into the nitty-gritty of this case.

It turns out the FIU caught wind of something fishy about a month ago. They even sent an undercover officer to check things out by pretending to buy some moissanite stones. Can you believe they offered him a 9% bonus?

But here’s the kicker: the company had no business accepting deposits! They were luring people in with promises of interest rates as high as 12%. Plus, they were pushing this idea that synthetic moissanite stones would be worth more than diamonds someday. Talk about a scam!

As the FIU was gearing up to take action, the owners of Torres Company just packed up and vanished. Now, the FIU has filed a criminal case against them.

So far, they’ve confirmed that 193 investors got duped out of ₹4.5 crore. And it sounds like that number might go up. They’ve seized a ton of evidence from the office, and the investigation is still ongoing.

People were tricked into buying these moissanite stones for between ₹6,000 and ₹7,000, all while being promised crazy returns. It’s just wild!

Interestingly, the Navi Mumbai Police set up the FIU about a year ago to tackle economic crimes. They’re on a mission to investigate companies that cheat people and make sure businesses are playing by the rules.

They even check out shops in malls to ensure everything’s legit. If they find any shady dealings, they’re quick to take legal action. It’s good to see someone looking out for the little guy!
