Toronto: 2024 is definitely a year to remember for the city. It’s officially tied for the warmest year ever recorded here. Can you believe it?

The average temperature hit a cozy 10.5°C, matching the record set back in 2012. It’s wild to think that three of the five hottest years at the airport have happened in just the last eight years.

Even though we didn’t have any crazy heatwaves, the summer was still a bit warmer than usual. Plus, the winter from December 2023 to February 2024 was the warmest on record, which really helped boost that yearly average.

Spring was the third warmest ever, and fall wasn’t far behind, landing in the second spot. So, even if the summer didn’t feel scorching, the winter months were definitely above normal, pushing 2024 to tie for the warmest year.

And it wasn’t just the heat; 2024 also saw a ton of rain, mainly due to some intense summer storms. Those downpours made it the wettest year on record, with a whopping 1,145 mm of rain at the airport!

It’s pretty crazy to think about how much weather can change in just a year. Toronto is really making headlines with these records!
