Hawaii: A toddler had a terrifying moment at Kilauea volcano when he almost fell off a cliff. Luckily, his mom was quick on her feet and grabbed him just in time.
This close call happened on Christmas Day while the family was at the Kilauea Overlook. The little guy broke away from the group and dashed past a barrier, heading straight for a 400-foot drop. His mom’s quick reaction saved him from a potential disaster.
According to a news release, she screamed and managed to catch him just a foot away from the edge. The family was understandably shaken but relieved that disaster was averted.
The National Park Service took this opportunity to remind everyone to keep a close eye on their kids and avoid restricted areas. They emphasized that while national parks are beautiful, they can also be dangerous.
Rhonda Loh, the park superintendent, mentioned that safety measures are in place, including barriers and closed areas. She urged visitors to recreate responsibly and keep safety in mind.
Kilauea Overlook offers stunning views of the island’s youngest and most active volcano. Just two days before this incident, the park service reported a new eruption and warned about air quality. It’s a reminder that nature can be unpredictable!
