Newport: A sweet cat named Molly is starting fresh in her new home after being adopted. She was at the RSPCA’s Newport Animal Centre for quite a while.
Originally found as a pregnant stray, Molly spent 145 days waiting for someone to take her home. Neil Finch, her new owner, spotted her on the RSPCA’s Find A Pet website.
When Neil first brought her home, Molly was really shy. She would hide all day and only come out at night. But over time, she started to feel more comfortable.
Neil set up a cozy cat bed for her under his bed, and slowly, she began to use it. She’s been eating well and using her litter tray like a champ from day one.
Now, she’s even venturing into the lounge for longer stretches, though she still keeps her distance. Neil says it’s been a slow but rewarding journey, and he’s hopeful she’ll soon be ready for more interaction.
Molly’s adoption was part of the RSPCA’s Adoptober campaign, which aims to boost pet adoptions. This year, they saw a nice increase in both dog and cat adoptions.
While it’s great to see more animals finding homes, the RSPCA is still dealing with a lot of cases of cruelty and neglect. They’re urging people to consider adopting long-stay animals who need loving homes.
