Battersea: So, there’s some buzz about new tower blocks coming to Nine Elms. Wandsworth council is looking at plans for three towers, which could bring 55 flats and 762 student rooms to the area.

The developer, Watkin Jones Group, wants to knock down the old Booker Cash & Carry on Battersea Park Road to make way for these buildings. The plan includes a 12-storey block with affordable homes, plus two taller towers for students.

They’re also planning to add some commercial spaces and community areas on the ground floors. Plus, there will be parking for cars and bikes, and they’re even planting 73 new trees.

This isn’t the first time they’ve pitched this idea. They had a similar plan last year but made some tweaks based on feedback. They’ve reduced the number of homes and student rooms a bit to address concerns.

The developers think this project could really help Battersea grow and attract more people to live, work, and visit. The council hasn’t made a final decision yet, but they’re leaning towards approval, especially since it offers affordable housing and economic benefits.

So, we’ll see what happens when the planning committee votes on it soon. It’s an exciting time for the area!
