Perth: A seaplane went down near Rottnest Island, and it’s a bit of a mess. Three people are still missing, and four were rescued, but some of them are hurt.
So, here’s what happened. The plane crashed around 4 PM local time, right near a busy swimming area. There were seven people on board, including the pilot.
WA Police are on it, and they’ve got water police and civilian boats helping out. They’re trying to figure out exactly how many folks were on the plane and what went wrong.
Premier Roger Cook shared his concern and thanked the first responders. He’s been briefed on the situation and is keeping everyone affected in his thoughts.
It looks like the plane hit Phillip Rock shortly after taking off. That’s a low-lying spot near where ferries go to the island.
Of the four people rescued, three were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, while one was okay. The police are assuring everyone that they have plenty of resources on the scene.
They’re still working hard to get more details, but no updates are expected until later. Rottnest Island is a popular getaway, especially in summer, so this is a big deal for the area.
