Essex: Three men were caught up in a big drug supply scheme and ended up getting a hefty 51 years in prison combined. It all started with a serious investigation by the Serious Organised Crime Unit.

This investigation was part of Operation Venetic, which focused on breaking into a secure messaging service called EncroChat. This service had around 60,000 users globally, with about 10,000 in the UK.

Law enforcement from different countries teamed up to crack down on EncroChat, and they managed to infiltrate it. The intel gathered was shared with police agencies, leading to some serious arrests.

Through the messages they intercepted, officers identified Simon Renoldi, Iain Green, and Matthew Hutchinson. They were using some pretty wild handles like ‘Typicalknee’ and ‘Pineappletequila’.

The messages revealed that Renoldi was deep into supplying kilos of cocaine and was in cahoots with Green and Hutchinson. They even talked about dealing MDMA and cannabis.

Hutchinson was also found to be shipping drugs to places like New Zealand and Australia. Can you believe that? They were even discussing plans to send more cocaine down under.

Surveillance caught Renoldi and Green exchanging over £140,000 in cash, which is just wild. They were also chatting about debts that were piling up, showing how deep they were in the game.

Eventually, police executed a search warrant in Basildon and found a staggering £705,000 in cash along with 5kg of cocaine. They even found an EncroChat device.

During the search, they discovered a notebook with some suspicious notes, including postcodes linked to a pub that Renoldi controlled. Talk about a paper trail!

In June, police kept tracking these guys, and they arrested Renoldi at his home, where they found more cash and the Encro device. Hutchinson and Green were arrested shortly after.

All three faced serious charges but denied everything. However, after a trial, they were found guilty. Renoldi got 21 years, while Hutchinson and Green received 13 and 17 years, respectively.

Detective Inspector Yoni Adler said these sentences reflect the hard work put in by the team. He emphasized that they’re serious about tackling organized crime in Essex and that criminals won’t get away with it.
