Derby, England, Bike Theft, Police Investigation
Derby: Two bike thefts happened recently in the city centre. Derbyshire police are looking into both incidents. They occurred close together and within about 30 minutes of each other.
The first theft took place near the River Derwent at Bass’ Recreation Ground. A woman was cycling when three males blocked her path. One of them threatened her and stole her bike, running towards Derby bus station.
The main suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, with a tanned complexion. He’s around 20 years old, has curly hair shaved on the sides, and wore a black tracksuit with a snood covering his face.
Another suspect is a slim, 17-year-old white male with dark circles under his eyes. He spoke with an Eastern European accent and wore a black tracksuit and beanie. He was riding a red bike.
The third suspect is a petite white male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, also around 17 years old. The stolen bike is a blue Giant SR Suntour with “Cyprus” on the frame.
About 30 minutes later, a second robbery occurred between Alvaston Park and London Road. A man and woman on an e-bike and e-scooter were approached by three males. After passing them, they noticed the trio following.
One of the suspects demanded the e-bike. When the victim refused, the robber pulled out a large black knife and pressed it against his back. The victim handed over the bike and ran away. The suspects then rode off towards Harvey Road.
Later, the suspect was seen on the stolen e-bike outside a shop in Allenton. The stolen e-bike is a Samebike model in black, red, and silver.
Descriptions of the suspects include one in a greenish-black hoodie, another in a black puffer jacket, and the third in dark blue clothing. All wore black balaclavas. One had an orange bike, and another rode a black bike.
Police have increased patrols in the area and are investigating leads. No arrests have been made yet. They are asking the public for help in finding the robbers.
They especially want to hear from anyone with CCTV footage of the incidents or the suspect spotted in Allenton.
