Marsh Green: It’s heartbreaking to hear about what happened to Darryl Tomlinson, or Daz as everyone called him. He was just 31 and lost his life after being hit by a car early in the morning on January 9.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly, he was pronounced dead right there. People have been sharing their memories of him online, calling him an easy-going guy with a heart of gold.
Wigan Town FC, where Daz played, also paid tribute, remembering him as someone who always had time for others. His dad, Paul, shared a touching message, saying how proud he was of his son and how much he will be missed.
Paul wrote about Daz’s massive smile and how he touched so many lives. It’s clear he was loved deeply by his family and friends. The community is really feeling the loss.
After the accident, a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The investigation is still ongoing.
To help with funeral costs, a GoFundMe page was set up, and it’s already raised over £4,000. The page describes the community as completely devastated by Daz’s sudden passing.
David Glynn, who started the fundraiser, wrote about how hard it is to lose someone so young and how Daz was a loving son, brother, and friend. He’s asking everyone to pitch in, no matter how small the donation.
