Wigan: So, there was this wild scene yesterday morning. Three teenagers took off from a stolen car after a police chase ended in a crash. It all kicked off around 9:30 AM when officers got a tip about a car being stolen from Northumberland Street.
Police quickly found the car, but the teens sped off. The chase didn’t last long, though, as they crashed on Wigan Road in Standish. Luckily, no one got seriously hurt in the crash, but the three guys jumped out and ran.
A police helicopter was on the scene, capturing everything from above. You could see the officers chasing the suspects down in some pretty dramatic footage. The blue car they ditched hit a wall, leaving bricks scattered everywhere.
Officers managed to catch two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old boy, all suspected of burglary. They’re still in custody for questioning. It seems like they might be involved in other burglaries too.
Detective Sergeant Sophie O’Rourke from GMP’s Wigan district said this whole incident really shows how dangerous it is to try and evade the police. She thanked the public for their help in tracking the suspects down. It’s a reminder that burglary, especially involving cars, can really upset victims, and they’re committed to bringing these guys to justice.
If anyone has more info, they should call GMP at 101 or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously.
