Swindon: Arkell’s Brewery has named Bridget Kearney as the new landlady of The Sun Inn. It’s located off Marlborough Road, right next to Coate Water Country Park.
Bridget is excited to return home after managing a pub in Chipping Norton for three years. She wants to make The Sun Inn a community hub, and her daughter Mollie will join her in this venture.
Bridget expressed her joy about being back near family and serving the local community. She loves the pub’s large garden and play area, perfect for families to relax.
Bridget has deep roots in Swindon, having worked in Arkell’s pubs since 2008. She moved back to reconnect with her family, including her four children and three grandchildren.
She mentioned that her grandchildren enjoy Coate Water Country Park, which is nearby. The Sun Inn offers a spacious outdoor area and family-friendly menus, making it ideal for families after a walk.
Bridget and Mollie are both dog lovers, and the pub will be dog-friendly under their management. George Arkell, managing director of Arkell’s Brewery, believes they are a perfect fit for the venue.
He praised their personalities and hospitality skills, saying it’s great to have them back in Swindon. The Sun Inn has had various landlords over the years, with Barry Chapman managing it last year.
