Trap: Just a few miles from Llandeilo, you’ll find this charming little hamlet. It’s got stunning views and a vibe that feels like stepping back in time.

The Afon Cennen river flows through Trap, which is sometimes spelled Trapp. While the local pub and school are gone, the hamlet still knows how to throw a great country show every year.

Bery Owen, who organizes the show, says it’s one of the biggest around. The horticultural tent is a real highlight, and the scenery is just beautiful.

Now, let’s talk about Carreg Cennen Castle. It’s hard to miss, towering over everything. This castle is often called one of the most romantic ruins in Wales, and it’s easy to see why.

Dating back to the 13th century, it has a rich history. It was once owned by King Edward I and has seen its fair share of battles, including attacks by Owain Glyndwr.

In the 19th century, the Cawdor family owned it until the Morris family bought it in 1963. They didn’t even realize they were getting a castle when they signed the papers!

Bernard Llewelyn, the current owner, shared that his wife’s family had been renting the farm for years before they decided to buy it. The castle was included by mistake, and they refused to sell it back when the previous owners asked.

Carreg Cennen isn’t just about the castle; it also has caves to explore. Paul Davis from Show Caves of the World says it’s a must-see because of its stunning location on a limestone cliff.

These caves have a fascinating history, too. They were once open to the outside but were blocked off for protection. It’s one of the few castles in Britain with such a unique feature.

So, if you’re ever in Carmarthenshire, make sure to check out Trap and its magnificent castle. You won’t regret it!
