Stoke-on-Trent: A group of guys from Merseyside thought they could take over the drug scene in Stoke-on-Trent. They were part of a gang that flooded the area with heroin, cocaine, and cannabis. Seven of them ended up getting locked up for a total of 37 years.
There are still a couple of others, including a woman, waiting to hear their sentences. The court learned that this whole operation was a ‘County Lines’ scheme. Basically, drug users in Stoke would call the ‘Scouse Chris’ line to get their fix.
But their little operation hit a wall in January 2020. Police from Staffordshire and Merseyside swooped in with a bunch of drug warrants, leading to nine arrests. They tracked 132 trips from Liverpool to Stoke-on-Trent over just five months.
DC Colin Jones from Staffordshire Police said it was a tough investigation. He mentioned that all the hard work paid off, resulting in 37 years behind bars for these guys. They really put in the hours to build a solid case against the gang.
In the end, the gang members thought they could outsmart the police, but they were wrong. Justice was served, and the streets are a bit safer now.
