Mossley: A new dog walking field might be on the way. Imagine a place where you can book a time to let your furry friend run around safely.

This field would be located between Quick Road and Strawberry Lane. It’s designed to be a secure spot for dogs, especially those that might not behave well around others. The area will be fenced and accessed through a keypad gate, so only those with a booking can get in.

When you book a slot, you’ll get a security pin to enter. The idea comes from Mr. Doug Kenny, who wants to help pet owners with dogs that are nervous or too energetic. He believes this could be a safe alternative, especially with the rise in dog attacks in public parks.

Planning documents highlight the growing number of incidents with uncontrolled dogs causing harm. Many dog owners are worried about their pets’ safety, and this field could offer peace of mind.

To keep things clean, biodegradable bags will be provided for waste, and there’s a plan to manage any mess left behind. Each booking will allow four dog walkers at a time for 45 minutes.

If Tameside Council gives the green light, a small parking area for four vehicles will be added. The field is set to be open during daylight hours, closing when it gets dark. Sounds like a great idea for dog lovers, right?
