A young man from Manchester is set to be released after his conviction was quashed due to a false identification in a rap video

Ademola, who was just 17 at the time, got caught up in a gang-related case after his friend was murdered. The police thought they had him pegged as part of a revenge plot, but it turns out they were way off. A judge recently ruled that his conviction was unsafe, mainly because a cop wrongly identified him in that video.
His lawyers argued that the whole case played into racial stereotypes, which is just messed up. They pointed out that the evidence against him was shaky at best. The police even used a picture of him holding cash to claim he was part of a gang. But Ademola insisted that wasn’t him in the video and that the cash photo was just him copying a celebrity pose.
The Court of Appeal finally took a look at the evidence and agreed that the identification was wrong. They even heard from a guy named Tyrone, who said he was the one in the video, not Ademola. The judges were like, “Yeah, this conviction doesn’t hold up.”
Now, Ademola is getting out of prison, and the judges decided not to retry him since he’s already served enough time. It’s a relief for him, but it’s a reminder of how easily things can go wrong in the justice system.
