Birmingham: So, it turns out parking fines have really shot up on a busy road in Birmingham this year. Stratford Road in Sparkhill saw fines more than double compared to last year, with over 5,000 drivers getting hit for parking violations.

Can you believe it? Traffic wardens were out in full force, handing out penalty charge notices like they were going out of style. Last year, they issued about 2,463 fines, but this year, that number jumped to over 5,000. That’s a serious increase!

Now, Stratford Road is sitting pretty as the second most fined road in Birmingham, just behind Alum Rock Road. Drivers were getting fined for all sorts of things—parking on double yellows, not paying, and even overstaying their welcome.

It’s wild to think that on average, about 15 fines were issued every single day on that road. It’s a busy spot with shops and homes, so it’s no wonder wardens are keeping a close eye on things.

The Birmingham City Council shared these details after a freedom of information request. If you get caught, be prepared to pay either £70 or £35 if you settle up within 14 days. Ouch!

And it’s not just Stratford Road; drivers are also getting caught out on Corporation Street and Coventry Road in Small Heath. So, if you’re driving around Birmingham, keep your eyes peeled for those parking signs!
