Thane: A heartbreaking story has come out of a pet boarding facility. Two dogs were reportedly abused, and one of them, a little Poodle named Dollar, lost vision in one eye. Can you believe that?
Dollar, just eight months old, went through a nightmare at the ‘Dogs and Me’ center. The poor pup was mishandled and ended up needing surgery to remove its eyeball. There were even photos showing how swollen Dollar’s eye was after the incident.
Animal welfare groups shared a video that showed the shocking treatment Dollar and other dogs received. The footage from a blurry CCTV camera caught staff members slapping and mistreating the dogs. It’s just awful.
Not only did Dollar lose its sight, but it also lost weight from the stress. Another dog, a Golden Retriever named Whiskey, was also abused during its stay. Whiskey, nearly two years old, suffered physical abuse and was left in pain.
Abhishek Kumar, the pet parent, expressed his heartbreak on social media, saying, “We trusted them to take care of our dogs, and they betrayed us in the worst way.” It’s so sad to hear that.
The Thane police have stepped in and filed an FIR against the boarding facility under animal cruelty laws. They’re taking this seriously, which is good to see.
