Thames Valley: The police and crime commissioner, Matthew Barber, has opened the Community Fund. This fund supports projects that fight anti-social behavior and vehicle crime.

The Community Fund is managed by the police and crime commissioner and the chief constable. It comes from selling items seized from criminals that can’t be returned.

Barber announced the fund is open for applications. There’s £200,000 available for community and voluntary groups. This funding aims to help reduce crime in Thames Valley.

Groups can apply for up to £10,000 for projects that align with the Police and Crime Plan. The focus areas are protecting communities, people, and property.

Chief constable Jason Hogg said the fund helps community groups support policing priorities. He emphasized the importance of funding projects that prevent crime.

The application deadline is midday on Monday, February 24. Successful applicants will be invited to a presentation event in April.

Barber expressed excitement about visiting previously funded organizations. He noted the positive impact of the Community Fund on local communities.

He looks forward to receiving applications, especially those targeting anti-social behavior and vehicle crime.
