London: So, here’s the scoop. Over 2,000 folks have jumped on a petition started by a group called ‘Escalate Now!’ because the escalators at Cutty Sark station are totally out of commission.

People are really fed up. They’ve been dealing with this escalator mess for years. Right now, they have to climb 121 steps just to get out through emergency exits. Can you imagine?

The petition is pretty clear. It says that Transport for London (TfL) should be keeping things in good shape for everyone who uses the station. But with these escalators down, it’s a real hassle, especially for those who struggle with stairs.

Tom Page, the DLR’s general manager, has some good news though. He confirmed that they’ve got the funds to replace the escalators. But, of course, there’s no timeline yet for when that’ll happen.

He expressed regret about the ongoing escalator issues, acknowledging how much it’s affecting commuters. TfL is also working with KeolisAmey Docklands to make sure passengers are kept in the loop about the escalator situation.

For now, there’s a one-way system in place at the station, and a small lift is available for those who need it. A spokesperson mentioned that usually, fixing escalators is a solid plan, but these ones have bigger problems, so they need a full replacement to ensure a reliable service.
