TfL Announces Changes to London Underground Timetable for Piccadilly Line
Transport for London has confirmed timetable changes for the Piccadilly line ahead of new trains arriving in 2025

London: So, guess what? TfL just rolled out a new timetable for the Piccadilly line starting today. This is all happening because they’re gearing up to introduce a fresh fleet of trains later this year.
Now, here’s the scoop: during peak hours on weekdays, there will be fewer trains running between Uxbridge and Acton Town. But don’t worry, the Metropolitan line won’t be affected at all.
Why the change? Well, the current trains are getting pretty old—almost 50 years! Some of them are just not fit for service anymore, which is why they had to cut back on the number of trains starting this month.
They’re expecting to add 94 brand new trains to the line by the end of the year. This new timetable is designed to help make room for those shiny new rides. The goal is to improve journey times and make everything more reliable and accessible.
Of course, there will be some part-closures as they get everything sorted out. If you’re traveling on the Piccadilly line between Uxbridge and Eastcote during peak times, it’s best to hop on the first train to Rayners Lane and switch there.
Oh, and here’s a little hiccup: the Piccadilly line services between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge won’t be running until mid-January. Apparently, leaves falling have caused some serious damage to the train wheels, which is a bit of a mess.
For now, there will be a reduced service between Acton Town and Rayners Lane, with trains coming every 15 minutes until mid-January. The Metropolitan line should be running as usual, and they’re working hard to get the Piccadilly line back to normal soon.
TfL mentioned that this year has been a bit tricky with leaves hanging on longer than usual before falling all at once during storms. This has led to fewer trains being available than they need to keep things running smoothly.
