Houston: So, it looks like Joe Mixon is in a bit of a pickle. The Texans didn’t list him as injured on Tuesday, but he was a limited participant. Just a rest day, they said.
But then, on Wednesday, they added that pesky ankle injury to the report after he had another limited practice. It’s been a rough season for him.
Mixon got hurt again this season from a hip-drop tackle. Remember, he missed three games earlier because of an ankle injury from a tackle by that Bears linebacker, T.J. Edwards, in Week 2.
Then, just last Sunday, Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks got him with the same hip-drop tackle, and Mixon had to leave the game briefly with that ankle issue.
On a brighter note, Mixon said he expects to play on Saturday, so fingers crossed!
The Texans had a couple of other updates on their practice report too. Linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips returned as a limited participant, and backup quarterback Davis Mills was back in full swing after missing Tuesday due to illness.
However, defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi, wide receiver John Metchie, offensive guard Juice Scruggs, and tight end Cade Stover were still out. On the plus side, offensive guard Kenyon Green was a full participant as he tries to come back from injured reserve.
