The police found a deceased individual inside the Cybertruck, and seven others had minor injuries from the explosion. Sheriff Kevin McMahill shared this during a press conference, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, mentioned that the company is investigating the fire. He said the whole senior team is on it, noting they’ve never encountered anything like this before.
The Cybertruck arrived at the Trump building around 8:40 a.m. local time. The police were cautious, especially after a recent attack in New Orleans where an explosive device was discovered in a vehicle.
McMahill reassured the public, saying they’re taking all necessary precautions to ensure community safety. They’re also checking for any secondary devices but believe there’s no further threat.
Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, tweeted about the incident, confirming the electric vehicle fire at the Trump Las Vegas.
In 2024, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board began investigating a separate crash and fire involving a Tesla semi-truck in California. Experts note that electric vehicle fires behave differently, often burning longer and being tougher to put out.
