Tennessee Governor Plans to Use National Guard for Trump Deportation Strategy

Lee was at a tech college event when he spoke to reporters. He made it clear that there’s no solid plan yet for deporting people, but he’s ready to support Trump’s ideas. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, though, since Trump has talked about deporting millions, including kids of undocumented parents.
He said, “Trump was elected for a reason, and I’m on board with his strategies.” Lee also mentioned he’s asked state agencies to gear up for whatever Trump wants to do about border security. It seems like he’s trying to keep things flexible for Tennessee.
Interestingly, he didn’t want to guess if troops from one state might go into another for deportations. That’s a pretty big deal, right? Plus, there’s a hefty price tag attached to mass deportations, estimated at around $315 million.
The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition isn’t happy about Lee’s stance. They think it could really hurt families and the local economy. Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers are backing Lee, while Democrats are calling it an attack on immigrants. It’s definitely a hot topic in the state right now.
