Winchester: Balfour Beatty is putting up temporary traffic lights on Spitfire Link. This is part of the ongoing work for Junction 9. They’re setting up a compound for the project.

The lights will be two-way and will be active after peak hours, specifically from 9am to 4pm on January 17 and January 20. So, if you’re driving around then, keep an eye out!

They’ll also be clearing some vegetation along the M3 near Junction 9. This means the southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight on January 23 and 24.

For those who need to navigate around, there will be a diversion. Drivers should head south on the M3 to Junction 11, exit, and then re-enter the M3 heading north to get back to Junction 9.

The overnight closures will kick off at 8pm and wrap up by 6am. But, this could change based on traffic levels and safety concerns.

A spokesperson from Balfour Beatty mentioned that it’s best not to rely on Satnav for these diversions. It might lead you down a road that’s not suitable or back onto a closed route.

By the way, the whole Junction 9 scheme is expected to cost between £190 and £220 million. Quite a hefty sum, right?
