Caithness: The weather has taken a turn for the better after a freezing weekend. Locals are feeling the relief as temperatures start to rise.
Keith Banks, a local weather expert, shared that the mercury has jumped into the positive double digits. It’s a welcome change after the cold snap.
In Wick, the temperature hit a pleasant 11.2C (52.2F) by Monday morning. That’s quite a leap from the minus 7.3C (18.9F) recorded just a couple of days earlier.
It’s interesting to note that Wick had its coldest night since March last year. On Friday, it was a real chill, with temperatures barely scraping above freezing.
Keith mentioned that many inland areas might have dipped even lower, possibly hitting minus 10C (14.0F) in some spots. Brr!
But now, with those warm southwesterly winds bringing in mild air from the Atlantic, we can expect temperatures to stay above average this week. Highs of around 12C (53.6F) are on the cards.
So, it looks like spring is trying to make an early appearance in Caithness. Let’s hope it sticks around!
