Teesside: So, there was this really scary incident where James Coomber and another guy broke into a teenager’s home in East Cleveland. They snuck in while the kid was sleeping and went straight for his stuff.

They were wearing balaclavas and ended up stealing a PlayStation and a mobile phone, but it got really violent. This all happened back on June 4 last year in Marske.

The poor kid recognized Coomber as his mom’s ex-boyfriend, which made the whole thing even worse. Coomber slashed at his legs with a big knife while demanding to know where the valuables were.

It was pretty brutal. The victim got punched multiple times, and Coomber even managed to cut him on the shin and back. Just awful.

And get this, the day before this burglary, Coomber was involved in another violent incident. He was driving a car that rammed into a house, and then he crashed into another vehicle while trying to overtake.

Eventually, the police found him hiding in a tree after he took some drugs, trying to escape the mess he created.

Coomber, who doesn’t have a fixed address, pleaded guilty to a bunch of charges, including aggravated burglary and dangerous driving. His lawyer said he knows he messed up big time and is facing a long sentence.

The judge didn’t hold back, calling him a dangerous offender and giving him 11 years in prison, plus an extra four years on license. He also has a ten-year restraining order against him.

It’s just a reminder of how some people can be so reckless and put others in danger. The victim should have felt safe in his own home, and it’s heartbreaking that he had to go through that.
