Gillingham: A 15-year-old boy named Colin Chabikwa is on the run after being linked to the tragic stabbing of Kelyan Bokassa. What’s wild is that Colin was already missing when Kelyan was killed.
Colin disappeared on September 23 in Gillingham, Kent. Police had even shared his photo, hoping someone would spot him. Kelyan, who was just 14 and had dreams of being a rapper, was fatally injured on a bus in Woolwich on January 7.
Kelyan’s mom, Mary, thinks he was targeted by gangs. She raised him alone after his dad was out of the picture, and he ended up in care. Kelyan had a tough life, running away from temporary homes back to London a couple of times.
Detectives are eager to talk to Colin and another teen, Mosawar Zazi, and they’re asking the public for help. They want to find these boys as soon as possible.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee expressed her condolences to Kelyan’s family and friends. She mentioned how much his death has impacted the community and thanked everyone in Woolwich for their support. The police are ramping up their efforts with more patrols and searches for weapons.
There are rumors that Kelyan was caught up in a gang feud. Just before he was killed, he posted a chilling message on Instagram, asking if anyone had a knife. This tragedy follows the death of his friend Daejaun Campbell, who was also killed nearby just a few months earlier.
In response to the violence, police have set up special orders in Woolwich, giving them more power to stop and search people. They’re urging anyone with information to reach out, either by calling 999 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
