East Kilbride: So, there was this wild incident at a Co-op store. An 18-year-old named Dylan McCrae got into some serious trouble for waving a knife around during a robbery.
He ended up in Hamilton Sheriff Court, where they decided to put him under supervision for 18 months instead of sending him to jail. Plus, he has to do 140 hours of community service. Not exactly a walk in the park!
McCrae, who’s from East Kilbride, admitted to assault and robbery that happened on September 22, 2023. His buddy was already in trouble for stealing wine from the same store and got a year of supervision.
According to the prosecutor, the whole thing went down around 9:20 PM. McCrae’s friend grabbed two bottles of Buckfast and tried to sneak out without paying.
When a staff member tried to stop him, things got heated. The worker took the kid’s hat and tossed it behind the counter. That’s when the friend outside called for McCrae to help.
McCrae stormed in, knife in hand, and pointed it at the staff member. The worker tried to calm things down, but McCrae was shouting for the hat back, using some pretty colorful language.
Eventually, the staff member gave the hat back, but McCrae wasn’t done yet. He kept advancing with the knife until they both bolted from the store.
It’s a crazy story, and it just goes to show how quickly things can escalate. Let’s hope they learn from this!
