Manchester: A popular restaurant from Stockport has made its way into Manchester with a new fast food concept. The folks behind Where The Light Gets In have opened a pop-up called Humbug at Kampus, right in the city center. They’ll be there until February 2, so there’s plenty of time to check it out.

This pop-up is part of a series of events and workshops happening in Manchester from November 2024 to March 2025. Where The Light Gets In, which earned a Michelin Green Star for sustainability in 2021, has been making waves since chef Samuel Buckley opened it in 2016 in an old coffee warehouse.

They’re calling this series “Where The Light Gets In: A Play in the City.” It’s a mix of food, art, and urban living, featuring everything from concept dining to panel discussions and film screenings at various venues, including a community space in NOMA.

On Instagram, they shared that Humbug is all about exploring fast food through the story of one cow. They want to dive into the historical and social aspects of fast food and how cities sustain themselves.

They plan to use every part of one traceable animal, highlighting the need for transparency in our food systems. Over the next month, they’ll share the cow’s story and its connection to fast food’s past and future.

In February, the Kampus space will transform into a spring-themed restaurant. Meanwhile, outside the city center, there will be discussions on communal green spaces, a pickling center for veggies, and even urban foraging and litter picking.

For the grand finale, they’ll host a series of banquets featuring platters of veggies, meats, and fish, along with plenty of wine. If you want to join in, you can book a spot from March 3 to 30 through their website.
