New Jersey: A 5th-grade teacher is in hot water for allegedly having a baby with a 13-year-old student. Laura Caron, 34, is facing some serious charges.
Prosecutors say she had an inappropriate relationship with the boy from 2016 to 2020. He was just 11 when it all started, and he was living with her at the time.
The investigation kicked off after the boy’s dad posted on Facebook, pointing out how much Caron’s baby looked like him and his son. That raised some eyebrows.
Caron gave birth to the child in 2019, and authorities arrested her without any fuss last Wednesday. She’s currently in jail in Cape May County.
So, who is Laura Caron? She grew up in Warrington Township, Pennsylvania, and went to a Catholic high school before studying elementary education at Cabrini University.
She was trusted by the boy’s family, who let their kids stay at her place. At first, it was just a couple of visits a week, but then the kids started living there full-time.
Things took a dark turn when the victim’s sister noticed him sleeping in Caron’s bed. She also mentioned that Caron would lock the bathroom door while he showered.
According to the brother, he saw Caron assaulting his sibling. The victim even texted his sister, confessing he was the father of Caron’s child and asked her to keep it quiet.
Now, Caron is facing some heavy charges, including aggravated sexual assault and endangering a child’s welfare. If convicted, she could be looking at years behind bars.
The school district has put her on administrative leave since the allegations surfaced. They’re also offering support to students and staff affected by this shocking news.
