Lubbock: So, Texas is gearing up for some wildfires while dealing with that arctic blast. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, right? On Friday, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM for short, announced they’re sending out state resources to tackle potential wildfires in the Panhandle, Permian Basin, and West Texas.

Why the rush? Well, dry grasses and winds hitting over 55 miles per hour are making things pretty risky for wildfires in those areas. It’s like a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd said this deployment shows how serious they are about keeping people and property safe during this wildfire threat. They’re not taking any chances.

They’ve even activated the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, which means they’ve got firefighters, fire engines, bulldozers, and even some aircraft on standby. It’s all hands on deck to keep things under control.

And just to keep things interesting, more parts of Texas are also expecting snow and freezing rain next week. Talk about a wild weather mix!
