Santa Clara: So, Patrick Taylor Jr. is finally getting his shot with the 49ers after a wild ride in the NFL. Can you believe he was all set for a big college season, and then bam! He got hit with a nasty Lisfranc injury right in the opener against Ole Miss back in 2019. Talk about a tough break!
That injury really threw a wrench in his plans. He had to go through multiple surgeries, and his draft hopes took a nosedive. But here he is now, a fourth-year pro, ready to possibly start against the Dolphins. He’s super pumped about it, saying it’s exciting after all the hard work he’s put in.
Back in college, he was a beast at Memphis, rushing for over 1,100 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns in his junior year. But after the draft in 2020, he signed with the Packers and had to sit out his rookie season because of that foot issue. Then, he got cut but bounced back to make the 53-man roster and became a key player on special teams.
He’s been through a lot, but he feels all those challenges made him stronger. After three seasons with the Packers, he joined the 49ers this offseason. He’s been working hard, especially with the running backs coach, to get ready for this moment.
Now, with some injuries on the team, he’s stepping up as a key player in the running game. He’s got faith in himself, even when doubts creep in. He knows staying persistent and disciplined is what got him here. Can’t wait to see how he does on Sunday!
