Volunteers joined him to pick up litter in Lyngford Park and around a nearby shopping complex. They spent several hours making the area cleaner and nicer for everyone.
Liam was happy with the turnout. He said many local residents joined in, and he received positive feedback from people passing by. This was his first community action day, and he plans to organize more in the future.
According to Business Waste Management, over two million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK every day. Most of it is food wrappers and packaging.
Cleaning up litter costs UK taxpayers around £500 million each year. It’s a big issue, but community efforts like this help make a difference.
If you want to join future clean-up events, you can sign up through the Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats’ website.
After the clean-up, Mr. Amos held a drop-in session at the Priorswood Community Centre. He praised Liam’s efforts and thanked everyone who helped out. He believes Liam will be a great community champion for Lyngford and Taunton.
