Los Angeles: So, have you seen the trailer for the new Netflix movie Carry-On? It’s got Taron Egerton in it, and people are already calling it the new Die Hard. It’s an action-thriller with a Christmas twist, just like the classic from 1988.
Sofia Carson, one of the stars, mentioned that the director really wanted to create something that blends action and holiday vibes for a new generation. It’s like they’re trying to keep the Die Hard spirit alive!
Egerton also chimed in, saying that Carry-On has a nostalgic feel, kind of like those 90s action flicks we all loved. He thinks there’s a real craving for that vibe these days, and he hopes people will enjoy the escapism it offers.
The story kicks off with Egerton playing Ethan Kopek, a TSA worker at LAX. He’s not exactly thrilled about his job, especially after being turned down by the police academy. His girlfriend, Nora, played by Carson, is pregnant and just got a promotion. Talk about pressure!
On Christmas Eve, things take a wild turn when a mysterious traveler blackmails Ethan, forcing him to let a suspicious suitcase through security. It’s a tense game of cat and mouse as he tries to protect his loved ones while keeping the airport safe.
Filming mostly took place in an airport, which was a unique challenge for the cast. Egerton had to act while sitting in front of a monitor, which sounds tricky! But he and the director found ways to keep it exciting.
Carson added that even though they were filming in the same outfit every day, the tension and excitement of the story kept things interesting. And when the action kicks in, it really delivers!
One cool aspect of the film is how it portrays the characters. Egerton’s character isn’t some superhero; he’s just an ordinary guy facing extraordinary circumstances. And Nora isn’t just a damsel in distress—she’s got her own strengths and plays a crucial role in the story.
Carson made sure her character could save herself, which is a refreshing change in action films. It’s great to see strong female characters who can hold their own!
