There are rumors that both Swansea and Preston North End might be looking to sign Phillips, but Williams isn’t ready to confirm anything. He said, “I don’t know too much at the moment so I can’t tell you more.”
Barnsley’s manager, Darrell Clarke, also commented on the situation, saying there haven’t been any bids for Phillips or any of his players yet. He mentioned that it’s normal for good players to attract interest, and he’d be worried if no one was talking about them.
Swansea is definitely on the lookout for an attacking midfielder and a winger. They’ve been linked with Blackburn’s Tyrhys Dolan too, but Williams said he doesn’t have any updates on that front.
It seems like Dolan might stick around at Ewood Park since he has six months left on his contract. Meanwhile, Williams has sent goalkeeper Nathan Broome out on loan to Port Vale, which is part of a plan to help him gain experience.
With another keeper, Andy Fisher, also on loan, Williams is focused on developing their skills. He mentioned that Jon McLaughlin, who just debuted in the FA Cup, might extend his stay with the club.
When asked about more potential departures, Williams said there could be some, but he hopes not to lose any key players.
